Musical (1948) 90 minutes ~ Black & White

This 1948 gem, set in a Harlem boardinghouse run by comedian Jackie "Moms" Mabley, portrays the heroic efforts of the "tenants" to prevent the place from closing its doors. To raise funds to keep it running, a motley crew of talented vaudeville performers -- including Una Mae Carlisle, Lucky Millinder and His Band, The Berry Brothers, Bull Moose Jackson, Anistine Allen, Paul Breckenridge and the Lee Norman Trio -- put on one last show-stopper.
