More migrants drown attempting to reach Europe

Italian coastguards reported saving nearly 40 lives off the coast of Libya on Saturday, but also being too late to save another 10 migrants, who died when their boat sank. Over 50,000 migrants have now made it to Italy this year, close to the record figure for the whole of 2011, and the prime minister has said he wants the UN to intervene.
