Nia Sanchez, formally Miss Nevada 2014, winner of Miss USA 2014 and a 4th degree Black belt in Taekwondo, has been showered in criticism from feminists - outraged by her suggestion that women should learn self-defense.

Kelina Cowell is Head Coach of Urban Warriors Academy in Vauxhall, London and Founder of Urban Warriors Krav Maga.

Urban Warriors Krav Maga is an explosive and dynamic street defence system. We are dedicated to teaching practical personal safety and effective tools against real-life situations.

The foundation of our system is traditional Krav Maga, but we cross-train in other systems such as Kapap, Boxing, Filipino martial arts (weapon defences and dirty boxing), Muay Thai, Pencak Silat, Jeet Kune Do and No-Gi submission wrestling. We have developed our own syllabus and grading system and the Urban Warriors Krav Maga system is constantly evolving and improving, as any self defence system should be!

The creator of traditional Krav Maga, Imi Lichenfield, intended his system to be a constant evolution based on the principles of practical self defence. Adaptable for everyone depending on their other combat training and their physical abilities. Each student was to make the system their own - not having instructors churning out clones of themselves with no freedom to experiment.

It is our aim to create what we feel is a more dynamic, explosive and complete self-defence system, complementary to traditional Krav Maga. We have developed our own syllabus and grading system which will continue to evolve through our instructors.
