In 1955, CFOR AM radio in Orillia, Ontario, increased its power to 10,000 watts. Bob Hope, who was performing in Toronto at the time, agreed to push the button to turn on the new transmitter. He and his family drove up to the small town north of Toronto and put on an improvised show for a crowd that gathered for the occasion.
