Known for her wedding garbs, Monique Lhuilier branched out to exotic lands this winter. The perfectly tailored pinked-up dress that opened the show, with its slightly looser mid-length sleeves, took us back to the times when Geishas ruled Japan.
A half-red half-black latex trench also resonated the far-eastern island, but in its current era of kink-meets-astute. This sensual vibe lingered, with leather skirts and Capri pants flirting with netted tops and dresses, barely covering the models' striking silhouettes.
Pointy ankle-heels or boots, decked with lace prints, resembled stockings and continued the trending sock-shoe movement.
Embroidered tutus made Geishas look like miles away, especially when Victorian black-laced gowns and puffy Spanish robes graced us with their presence. Marking the end of the show was Lhuilier herself, embodying yet another mélange of culture: a deliciously talented Franco-Spanish-Filipino cocktail.
