Kalvakuntla Chandrasekhar Rao has been sworn in as the first-ever chief minister of India’s Telangana state.
The southern state of Andhra Pradesh has formally split in two, with its northern area being carved out to create a new state.
Telangana officially came into existence at 0:00 on June 2 and becomes India’s 29th state.
