Finally, we get to the Citizen Kane of bad movie trailers: Tiptoes. In the film, Matthew McConaughey’s “happy ever after” with Kate Beckinsale is interrupted because of the fact that his family members are all little people. But the offensive comedy that features Gary Oldman kneeling on his shoes to play a little person with actual diminutive actors like Peter Dinklage was worth it for the trailer alone.
Not only does it outline the absurd scenario perfectly, but it actually presents the drivel as a feel-good Oscar contender. At first glance you might even be convinced that this is a parody of cheesy drama trailers, but this is real. That’s actually Oldman playing a motorcycle-riding dwarf, and, yes, the voice-over actually states “When the going gets tough, it’s only the size of your heart that counts." Fortunately, the trailer is also one of the funniest things you’ll ever see even though that was never the intention.
