The 44th release on the excellent Circle Music label is testament to label boss Alex Flatner’s superb A&R skills. The Mannheim based multi-tasking DJ/Producer/A&R/Label Boss has gathered together no less than 3 superbly different and exciting tracks from Berlin based duo, Kotelett & Zadak.
Together, Martin Zadak and Kotelett have developed a sound that can hardly be described. As a starting point to understand where they are coming from, they love to play afterhours sets that can last up to eight hours, so a wealth of variety in their musical palette is essential.
“Periodically” rides a wave of mind-bending, dark room, twisted brilliance. With a hypnotic backbone of bizarre percussion this is most definitely a trip into an alternative consciousness. In stark contrast, “Magnetic Field” channels the Balearic spirit of none other than Phil Collins - with amazing results – pure genius! Finally, “Forelle Blau” ups the funk factor and gets a little fishy with it.
Where this Berlin based duo actually originate, nobody knows for sure, but their biography may give some clues as to their taste and humour.
