Thousands of protesters gather in the old city area of Bangkok to celebrate His Majesty the King's 64th Coronation Day and call for a change in government.
Crowds in yellow shirts gather to extend best wishes to the Thai King and pray for success in their latest plan to topple caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra.
(SOUNDBITE) (Thai) PROTEST LEADER, SUTHEP THUAGSUBAN, SAYING:
"We ask for your blessing for the power of the people to remain strong, determined and brave to fight against the country's enemy and achieve victory."
Protesters have been trying to oust the Prime Minister since November -- part of a long-running crisis that broadly pits Bangkok's middle class and royalist establishment against the mainly poor supporters of Yingluck and her brother, ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra.
A general election is expected to be held July 20. But anti-government protesters who disrupted a vote in February say they want electoral reforms before a new poll
