The Walking Dead (1936)

Karloff shines as John Elman, framed and executed for a crime he did not commit, only to be revived by a benign scientist (Edmund Gwenn) and driven by a force neither truly understands to become an avenging "angel of death". An under-appreciated concoction of Warner-style crime drama and classic horror elements in a well-crafted screenplay with a superb cast.
