Simpsons celebrate 25th anniversary

Fox's hit animated show "The Simpsons" is about to celebrate its 25th year ... and to mark the milestone, the show is getting a plastic makeover.

"Brick Like Me," will mark the 550th installment of the world's most watched U.S. television program.

The episode's co-writer Matt Selman says he knew something special needed to happen in Springfield to mark the occasion.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) Matt Selman, writer for "The Simpsons" Lego episode, saying (English):

"If you watch the episode slowly we put in tons of hidden background jokes, references to "The Simpsons," references to Legos. So, it really rewards a close viewing. We are not going to waste this opportunity, we jammed every little freeze frame Lego reference background joke we could possibly do. So, watch it closely superfans."

"The Simpsons" premiered in 1989 and since has rarely changed its basic visual form.
