Casa Batllo is one of the two great buildings designed by Antoni Gaudi on Passeig de Gràcia, the other is La Pedrera.
From the outside the façade of Casa Batlló seems to be made of skulls and bones. The "Skulls" are in fact balconies and the "bones" of the support pillars.
Gaudi used colors and shapes taken from marine life as inspiration for his creativity in this building, for example, the colors chosen for the façade are those of the natural coral.
The building was designed by Gaudi for Josep Batlló, a wealthy aristocrat, as an exclusive residence. Mr. Batlló lived in the lower two floors with his family while the upper floors were rented out as apartments.

Dall'esterno la facciata di Casa Batlló sembra essere fatta di teschi ed ossa. I "Teschi" sono in effetti dei balconi e le "ossa" i pilastri di supporto.
Gaudí ha utilizzato colori e forme prese dalla vita marina come fonte di ispirazione per la sua creatività in questo edificio, ad esempio, i colori scelti per la facciata sono quelli del corallo naturale.
L'edificio fu disegnato da Gaudí per Josep Batlló, un ricco aristocratico, come residenza esclusiva. Il Signor Batlló viveva nei due piani più bassi con la famiglia mentre i piani superiori erano affittati come appartamenti.
