As the situation in Ukraine continues to deteriorate, many in the West are wondering: what is Vladimir Putin up to? This is especially the case in Germany, a country with which Putin has a special relationship, given that he served as a KGB operative in East Germany. Wilfried Bolewski is a former German ambassador and served as Chief of Protocol under Chancellors Gerhard Schröder and Angela Merkel. He gives us his take on the Ukrainian crisis.
