Victim overhears murder plot when former boss pocket-dials him

A Jonesboro, Arkansas man was caught allegedly plotting the murder of a former employee after he unwittingly pocket-dialed the intended victim who overheard the entire plan.

The unidentified employee was pocket-dialled just after noon last Thursday by his former boss, car salesman Larry Barnett, according to a report by local news station KAIT.

What he allegedly heard over the phone, though, wasn't your run-of-the-mill gibberish, but his 68-year-old former boss speaking to a hit man and conspiring to murder him.

During the call, which lasted a lengthy 1.5 hours, the intended victim allegedly overheard his boss giving the contracted killer directions to his home and doing everything in his power to ensure he would soon be sleeping with the fishes.

"I don't care if you have to burn his house to the ground with him in it," said Barnett, according to the intended victim. "I don't care what you have to do, make it look like an accident."

Police later found the man's home broken into and his gas stove tampered with.

Barnett was arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit murder.
