Texas teen avoids prison because he's wealthy and apparently suffering from "affluenza"

It's no secret that the mechanisms of society often work in the favor of the wealthy.

But, a case of a wealthy Texas teen literally getting away with murder has proved to be a slap in the face to some.

16-year-old rich kid Ethan Couch was driving seven friends in his SUV in June.

With a blood-alcohol level three times the adult legal limit the drunken teen caused a crash that killed four people.

His actions caused the death of 24-year-old Breanna Mitchell, father of three Brian Jennings and mother-daughter pair Hollie and Shelby Boyles.

Now, you might ask: How do you defend somebody like Couch?

By pulling a bullshit legal strategy out of your ass!

Couch's defense psychologist argued that he was a victim of wealth and suffered from something called "affluenza".

Basically, that because of his opulent lifestyle, he never learned the simple life lesson that actions have consequences.

So the judge thought it'd be a good idea to continue treating him like a spoiled brat and spared him jail time. That'll teach him!
