THE INTERVIEW - Mansouria Mokhefi, Middle East and North Africa specialist

Abdelaziz Bouteflika, the 77-year-old Algerian president, is seeking re-election to a controversial fourth term. Outsiders are not alone in dismissing the election as a "farce" and a "masquerade". Many Algerians also consider it a mockery of the democratic process.
Douglas Herbert speaks to Mansouria Mokhefi. She is a special advisor on the Middle East and North Africa at the French Institute for International Relations (IFRI), and a visiting fellow at the European Council on Foreign Relations.
