Libya: trial begins for Gaddafi's sons and former officials

In Libya, a trial has begun for the sons of Muammar Gaddafi and more than two dozen of his ex-officials.
The men face charges ranging from corruption to war crimes related to the 2011 uprising, which eventually toppled Gaddafi as Libya’s president. The former Libyan leader was later killed after being captured by rebels.
Gaddafi’s sons Saadi and Saif al-Islam did not appear at the Tripoli court, but the deposed ruler’s ex-spy chief Abdullah al-Senussi was among the defendents fenced-off behind bars.
Saif had been expected to appear by video-link but the rebel group holding him says it doesn’t believe the government can guarantee his security.
The trial will resume on April 27 as investigators need more time to finish their cases with some of the defendants.
