Japanese man charged with string of sexual assaults on young girls

A 44-year-old unemployed man was arrested for assault and battery over Christmas. The suspect, Masanobu Nakanishi, is accused of theft and sexual assaults during attacks on six young women including middle school girls and female office workers between October 2012 and April 2013.

Hyogo Ikuta Police Station announced over Christmas that they had sent the case to the Kobe District Public Prosecutors Office, which later charged Nakanishi with assault and battery.

The suspect denied all charges during the questions, claiming that the sex was consensual. He became acquainted with a then-14-year-old middle school girl via a online dating site. Police allege he took her to a hotel in the centre of Kobe City and raped her shortly after telling her in a threatening tone that he was a gang member. He also allegedly took pictures and footage while raping her before stealing all her cash.
