British royals arrive in New Zealand for official tour

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have touched down in New Zealand on the first leg of a three-week whistle-stop tour of the antipodes.

At eight-months it is the first official tour of Prince George.

The visit comes at a crucial time for royal support in Australia, with Prime Minister Tony Abbott bringing back the oath of allegiance to Queen Elizabeth when he was sworn in last year.

At nearly 88, the Queen has been scaling back her workload, and it’s the young royals who are increasingly taking up her duties.
