Doctors "do not expect any more fatalities" from Fort Hood

Doctors at the hospital in Texas where victims from the shooting at Fort Hood were taken said Thursday (April 3) they do not expect any more additional fatalities.

"We not expect any more fatalities at this point," Dr. Matthew Davis, trauma director at Baylor Scott & White Health, said at a news conference. "I believe that our patients are still under some significant physiologic stress. We have a lot of work to do in the operating room as well as in the time to come. This is just the beginning of the process, really."

The soldier suspected of gunning down three people before killing himself at the Fort Hood Army base Wednesday evening was under psychiatric care but showed no signs of violence or suicidal tendencies, the secretary of the U.S. Army said on Thursday.

There was no motive given for the incident, which also left 16 wounded, although officials have so far ruled out terrorism in the second mass shooting at the base in
