Two American security contractors were found dead on Tuesday (February 18) on the Maersk Alabama, the same ship featured in the Tom Hanks movie Captain Phillips.

According to CNN, the bodies were found by a colleague at around 4:30 p.m. while the ship was moored at Port Victoria in the Seychelles. No details were given as to how the two men died, though a senior director for Maersk Line Limited said in a statement that their deaths were "not related to vessel operations or their duties as security personnel," Reuters reported.

The two security contractors, both 44, worked for Trident Group, a Virginia-based maritime security services firm. The company's president, Tom Rothrauff, said the men were former Navy SEALs, CNN reported.

According to Reuters, they boarded the Maersk Alabama and joined the ship's crew on January 29. The ship berthed in Port Victoria around midday on February 17.

Maersk Alabama is part of a U.S.-flagged fleet controlled by Maersk Line Limited, a unit of A.P. Moller-Maersk, which performs military, government and humanitarian missions by transporting cargo on its container, tanker and multi-purpose ships, according to the company's website.

The ship was targeted by Somali pirates in 2009 who attempted to hijack it off the east coast of Africa. The incident was the subject of the movie Captain Phillips directed by and Paul Greengrass and starring Tom Hanks.
