'Rob the Mob' - when the tables were turned on the Mafia

Based on a true story, ‘Rob the Mob’ is a real life Bonnie and Clyde crime thriller about a young couple who take on New York’s mafia. Set in the 1990s, the movie stars Michael Pitt and Nina Arlanda and Andy Garcia plays the gangster film’s mob boss.
“It was a fascinating idea, this sort of tragic love story about this Bonnie and Clyde kind of romantic dramady set in this time period and how the family, the Mafia families, dealt with it, because they couldn’t go to the police and say, ‘Hey I’m being robbed’. ‘OK, let us into your little private enclaves so we can dust for prints, search around and see if we can find any clues’,’‘ said Garcia.
The film is just the latest in a long line of Mafia movies, the appeal of which shows no signs of fading.
Garcia added: ‘‘The genre, the gangster genre, has been with us since the twenties or whatever – forever – since Paul Muni and Cagney and Bogart and Edward G. Robinson, and of course, later on into ‘The Godfather’ and ‘Goodfellas’ and all of that stuff, so it’s part of the tapestry of American film.”
Currently out in the US, ‘Rob the Mob’ goes on general worldwide release later this year.
