Japan braces for rise in sales tax

Japan's sales tax will rise from 5 percent to 8 percent on Tuesday to help cut government debt levels.

The weeks leading up to the rise saw an upsurge in spending, as shoppers rushed to beat the deadline day.

Now businesses are now bracing for a downturn that business owners hope is brief.
