Bin Laden son-in-law found guilty of terrorism-related charges

One of Osama bin Laden’s sons-in-law has been found guilty of terrorism-related charges by a federal jury in New York.

Suleiman Abu Ghaith has been convicted of conspiring to kill Americans, conspiring to provide material support to terrorists, and providing such support.

He faces life in prison, but his defence solicitor Stanley Cohen said there was “zero evidence” he knew about any conspiracies. He argued the case was based purely on “ugly words and bad associations.”

“We believe that there was sufficient error in the course of this case,” said Cohen.

“We’re confident that on appeal an appellate court will look very differently at some significant issues that occurred both before the trial and during the course of the trial,” he added.
