A Taliban suicide bomber blew himself up next to a bus in Kabul, Afghanistan on Sunday, killing four people and injuring 22 others.

The bus, which was carrying Ministry of Defence staff to work, travelled past the
the Karte Naw neighborhood of Kabul at around 7am. A suicide bomber on foot set off his explosives belt near the approaching bus.

"There are four dead. Two civilians, one of them female, and two military officers. It was a suicide bombing," defence ministry spokesman General Zahir Azimi told AFP. Another 22, including children, were injured.

The Taliban quickly claimed responsibility for the attack. The militant group launched another suicide attack on a popular Lebanese restaurant in Kabul on January 17, killing at least 21 people. It has escalated the attacks before the NATO troops departed Afghanistan, which have been a regular presence in the war-ravaged nation for a decade.
