Police hunt for motive in mystery of missing Malaysian airliner

At least 25 countries are now helping in the search for the missing Malaysian airliner which vanished over a week ago.
A huge arc over sea and land from central Asia to the southern Indian Ocean is being scoured in the hope of discovering what happened to the plane with its 239 passengers and crew.
Investigators have turned their attention to the two pilots after it was confirmed someone with technical knowledge had diverted the craft.
Malaysia Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar told journalists that the homes of the pilot and co-pilot had been searched:
“We took possession of a simulator (from one of the pilots’ house), of a flight simulator and we dismantled it from the home and we assembled it at our office and we are getting experts to look at it now.”
The family of Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah who often posted videos of himself onto social media, said he had a flight simulator because he was a conscientious pilot.
With no obvious motive, police are continuing background checks on both Zaharie and first officer Fariq Abdul Hamid.
At the same time all possibilities – hijack, sabotage, or personal or psychological problems of someone on board – are being investigated.
