Attack on army bus in Egypt blamed on Brotherhood

The Egyptian army has blamed the Muslim Brotherhood for an attack on an army bus in central Cairo. The ambush by masked gunmen killed one army sergeant and injured three others on Thursday.
One local witness described what happened: “They were youths riding motorbikes. The incident happened in an instant. They drove off against the flow of traffic. The motorbikes sped up and they didn’t have licence plates. We’re tired from all that’s happening. It’s too much.”
The Muslim Brotherhood has insisted it is committed to peaceful activism.
Islamist militants based in the largely lawless Sinai peninsula have stepped up attacks on security forces since president Mohamed Mursi’s downfall last July, killing hundreds.
Their campaign has spread to Cairo and other cities.
