RT News anchor Liz Wahl quits her job on air and Abby Martin fights for uncensored news

Liz Wahl quit her job on-air Wednesday as news anchor at RT. She cited Russia's actions in Ukraine and accused the station of being pro-Kremlin in their coverage of the protests in Crimea. RT is a Russian funded television station.

Liz Wahl ended her broadcast on Wednesday saying, "Personally I cannot be part of a network funded by the Russian government that whitewashes the actions of Putin," Wahl, a Washington, D.C.-based correspondent for Russia Today, said. "I'm proud to be an American and believe in disseminating the truth and that is why after this newscast I'm resigning."

This comes days after fellow RT host, Abby Martin criticized Russian intervention in Ukraine. Her statements got picked up by other media outlets and Martin came back the next day and proclaims that she always speaks against military intervention, including the US, and usually get ignored.

Martin mentions Phil Donahue's firing from MSNBC and Peter Arnett's dismissal from NBC as examples of US media silencing reporters' voices. Martin remains employed by RT who offered to send Martin to Ukraine but Martin declined.

RT released a statement addressing Wahl's resignation, "When a journalist disagrees with the editorial position of his or her organization, the usual course of action is to address those grievances with the editor, and, if they cannot be resolved, to quit like a professional. But when someone makes a big public show of a personal decision, it is nothing more than a self-promotional stunt."
