Chanel goes supermarket-chic

STORY: Chanel's highly anticipated Fall 2014 ready-to-wear show took amazed crowds on a trip to the supermarket at Paris Fashion Week on Tuesday (March 4).

The French capital's Grand Palais was transformed into the 'Chanel Shopping Center', stocked with thousands of luxurious food items, including Tweed cola and Chanel pots of paint.

Informality was brought to high-end fashion as models browsed the makeshift store in orange, green and baby pink sparkling sneakers, some of which developed into knee-length boots.

"I wanted to show the ease of the clothes, the way they walk in those shoes, the modern approach even to luxury, that luxury should not be something like this, confined to a limited thing. If you are lucky enough that you can buy those things, buy them but don't wear them to show people how rich you are," designer Karl Lagerfeld said.
