The prevalence of diabetes is growing around the world at an alarming pace impacting individuals, families, societies and economies. Today there are 382 million people with diabetes in the world and the International Diabetes Federation predicts that this will rise to 592 million by 2035. With prevalence numbers in Pakistan also estimated to double over the next twenty years, the Forum will seek to explore in more detail the particular challenges faced in Pakistan and the wider region.

The Pakistan Diabetes Leadership Forum 2014 will was organized in Islamabad on 1-2 March 2014 and gathered around 250 high-level participants from Pakistan and other countries, who share similar challenges from diabetes.

The objective with the Forum is to provide a platform, where key stakeholders in the area of diabetes and non-communicable diseases including opinion leaders, policy makers and partners in public health and international media, can interact through high-level sessions and panel discussions. The purpose of these discussions is to create a network of committed influencers who can drive the agenda forward on diabetes prevention and care.
