Gunday Movie Review | Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor & Priyanka Chopra

The much talked about YRF's release Gunday finally hit the screens on this Valentine's 14th of February 2014. While on one side we had the news abuzz over triple action Ranveer Singh, Priyanka Chopra and Arjun Kapoor's casting in their respective arenas, the other side equally grabbed the headlines for Ranveer-Arjun's on and off screen bromance and their chemistry with Priyanka. So getting a breather to all you viewers this time, here's what this Ali Abbas Zafar's Gunday offers with its share of twist and tales.
Firstly, a quick brush up through the film's plot. Set wholly on the backdrop of Kolkata, the story is an unusual tale of two orphans Bikram and Bala who flee from Bangladesh post the 1971 partition war and dig in ways or let's correct it to 'wrong ways', for their survival. Having settled with coal stealing at the start, they finally shine to fame as the biggest gangsters of Calcutta. Now that's how the Gundays come in frame. Then coming to Priyanka, she has been introduced as a cabret dancer who tends to get both Bikram and Bala's attention, rivalry and all other sorts that follows throughout the film.
As intended, the story definitely manages to deliver the 70's and 80's feel leaning on to the essence of friendship and love triangle. However, one may ponder over the fact that there have already been several films made on to this genre so what's different? Well, Gunday manages to stand out with its high octane energy and entertainment quotient. In fact, the performances are an added plus with Ranveer and Arjun's chemistry acting as the USP of the film. Both remain engagingly constant throughout the film. While Ranveer delivers smashing performance with his utter confidence and hotness, Arjun further adds on to the charm with a good show of hard work and determination. Meanwhile, lady love Priyanka too comfortably sizzles in her space with the cabret avatar and wooing factor.
Overall, Gunday is a sure shot entertainer with a high dosage of bromance this Valentines!
