Hollande praises tech industry in San Francisco

The day after a lavish state dinner at the White House, French President Francois Hollande visited the tech hub of San Francisco.

He was given a ceremonial "Key to the City" by Mayor Edwin Lee.

In turn, Hollande praised San Francisco as being a leader in innovation and creativity.

(SOUNDBITE) (French) FRANCOIS HOLLANDE, PRESIDENT OF FRANCE, SAYING:

"It's here in California, in San Francisco, that the world of tomorrow is being invented, the world of the 21st century. It's here that a revolution has been launched through new technology, and this revolution is attracting all the world's best talents and that's why the French are here."

During a high-profile lunch, he met with technology executives like Google's Eric Schmidt and Facebook's Sheryl Sandberg.

Hollande's San Fran visit emphasized the current strength of US-French relations which he and President Obama spoke of earlier in the week.
