Australia's Prime Minister Tony Abbott has defended his government's controversial policy on turning back asylum seekers that enter its waters.

His comments follow recently-released footage, that appear to show the country's navy towing back a lifeboat full of migrants towards Indonesia.
The Indonesian government considers the move an abuse of its territorial sovereignty.
