Climax Jazz Band in a TV performance in 1979 featuring trombonist Turk Murphy.
In the search for guest musicians to play with us in several Toronto TV shows we suggested Turk Murphy. In my early days we were very much influenced by King Oliver’s Creole Jazz Band. A generation later one of the first revival bands was the Lu Watters Yerba Buena JB from San Francisco. I remember the listening to all these San Francisco style LP’s of Watters. What a pleasure it was to be able to invite their trombonist Turk Murphy, now some 30 years later, to come to Toronto and having him in our midst on a TV show.
