Clouds of black smoke were seen billowing over a blaze after a freight train carrying fuel tanks derailed in Russia's city of Kirov early on Wednesday (February 5), amateur video obtained by Reuters showed.

Twelve tanks caught fire after the train went off the rail and more than 300 firefighters and emergency workers were sent to extinguish the flames, local media reported.

Some 400 people have been evacuated from the area, with no casualties reported.

Kirov is located just west of the Ural mountains, 900 km (550 miles) northeast of Moscow.
