Band of Skulls finally headlining with release of new album 'Himalayan'

After endless support slots with the likes of Queens Of The Stone Age, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and The Black Keys, Band Of Skulls are ready to step into the limelight themselves with the release of their new album, ‘Himalayan’.
For this record, unlike their previous two albums, the band decided against far-flung farms in Wales and opted instead for recording studios closer to home, in Richmond and London.
Drummer Matt Hayward explained: “With the last two records we were very much cut off from the rest of the world. We found studios on farms in Wales and Norfolk. This was city life, so we’d go in and we’d do a day of recording and then we could step away from it and go back home, which was new to us. So that was a different take on how we’d done things before, which I think worked out really well, for the writing of it. It’s got London written all over it.”
For their third studio album the band approached producer Nick Launay (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Arcade Fire) to help out.
Having previously worked with him on their second album, ‘Sweet Sour,’ Hayward says Launay was an “obvious choice”.
“We wanted to work with somebody different and try something new and he was a very obvious choice because he already understood the dynamics of our band. We hung out with him and chatted about music and what we wanted to do with the record and what his idea of where we should go with it was.”
Band of Skulls will be touring the UK and Europe throughout March and April.
‘Himalayan’ is released on March 31st.
