Death penalty sought for Boston bombing suspect
Accused Boston Marathon bomber, Dzokhar Tsarnaev is facing the death penalty.
U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder released this statement saying the U.S. "will seek the death penalty" for the 20-year-old.
Tsarnaev is charged with committing one of the worst attacks in the U.S. since the September 11, 2001 attacks.
Boston Mayor Marty Walsh responded to Attorney General Holder's statement:
(SOUNDBITE) BOSTON MAYOR MARTY WALSH SAYING:
"As you all know, as a state representative I voted against the death penalty. If I were asked to vote on that today, I would vote the same way. But this is not my vote to cast, or my decision to make. I support the judicial system, and I support the decision that Holder put on today."
Last year, Dzokhar Tsarnaev and his older brother Tamerlan Tsarnaev were accused of planting bombs near the finish line of the Boston marathon that killed three people and wounded hundreds more.
