Egyptian presidential elections brought forward

The Interim President of Egypt, Adly Mansour, has announced that Presidential elections will be held sooner than planned, and before the country elects a new parliament.
This is a change to the previous political timetable (in which it was planned to hold parliamentary elections first) and could see General Abdel FAttah al-Sisi, the head of the army, becoming Head of State within months.
The announcement comes after a day of violence which saw 29 people dead during demonstrations and rallies to mark the anniversary of the Egyptian revolution. Many people in the streets were showing their support for the army chief. The army deposed the previous, Islamist president, Mohamed Mursi last July.
