Police confirm one protester death

At least two anti-government protesters are feared dead in the Ukraine capital Kiev as demonstrators continue to clash with police.

The violence broke out as police using tear gas attempted to clear a blockade set up by demonstrators... who fought back with molotov cocktails and firecrackers.

One report claims a demonstrator collapsed dead during the violence. Medical officials attended to both wounded demonstrators and police officers.

Witnesses say another protester was killed by a police sniper. His body was taken to a makeshift hospital facility for protesters where medical officials say he died from bullet wounds to his neck and chest.

Authorities have only confirmed the death of one protester so far.

The demonstrators have been out in the street for several weeks, angered by President Yanukovich's decision to shun a trade pact with the European Union and instead accept financial aid from Russia.
