Officials say at least twenty people were killed, including four children, when a truck struck two minibuses near Egypt's southern city of Edfu.

All but one of the casualties died at the scene on Sunday night.

A driver who was passing by stopped to help:

(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) MINIBUS DRIVER WHO HELPED WITH CRASH RECOVERY, MOHAMED HUSSEIN, SAYING:

"We took the bodies outside the wrecked cars, placed them inside the body bags and into the ambulance."

An average of 6,000 Egyptians die in road accidents every year.

Road safety standards are often lax and poorly enforced.
