Kabul attack proves "no humanity" in Taliban, activist says

Civilians and activists honor the dead in Kabul.

A makeshift memorial now sits where 21 people were killed in a Taliban attack on Friday.

Activists say those that lost their lives won't be forgotten.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) SOCIAL ACTIVIST, MOHAMMAD SHAFIQ HAMDAM, SAYING:

"The reason we have gathered here today is to remember those who has been killed brutally by terrorists and Taliban here."

Three United Nations staff members and the International Monetary Fund's top representative there are among the dead.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) SOCIAL ACTIVIST, MOHAMMAD SHAFIQ HAMDAM, SAYING:

"Such attack shows the Taliban terrorist has no humanity, has no sympathy and they can attack, they can kill anyone."

At the foreign ministry, the government condemned the attack.

A spokesman there told journalists that insurgents would not succeed in creating an atmosphere of fear and intimidation.
