Dans les Rues d'Antibes Climax JB 1996

In 1996 I had left the Climax Jazz Band. My wife and I had moved from Toronto to British Columbia. Before another cornet player could be worked in we decided that I would play the International Jazz Fesivals for another half a year or so.
This was a festival in St Louis and upon arrival I found that Pieter Mijers from Los Angeles would be our reed player. Pieter played with us a number of months before, during our trip to Japan. Pieter is originally from the Netherlands as well and was very much inspired by by Peter Schilperoort and Jan Morks, who were the reedplayers of Holland's famous Dutch Swing College Band. I love Schilperoort's playing as well, so, there has always been a good musical rapport between Pieter and myself.
During this festival one of our sets was recorded by the Heritage Video company.
It was their intention to bring out a video program representing the music of the festival's participating bands.
It wasn't until 1997 that George Miller, their president send me a copy of our part of the concert to help indicate which tunes we would prefer for that program. After I had replied to him I filed the video somewhere. Then we moved several times, I got involved with other bands and actually forgot about it. It ended up in a large box with more audio and video VHS tapes and has been in our garage on a shelf for four years.
I was looking for something else and there was the copy of the St Louis concert.
In this clip we play the Sidney Bechet composition "Dans les Rues D'Antibes"
Pieter plays an very inspired solo on his soprano saxophone.
