From the Black You Make Color - Trailer

This film brings to the screen the diverse voices of women on the periphery of Israeli society. Eight such women – thrown together under one roof during the course of a school year at Tel Aviv’s oldest beauty academy -- are spotlighted in this 75-minute documentary. They speak Russian, Hebrew, Arabic, English, Amharic, Yoruba and Vietnamese, yet somehow find a common language here. Their compelling personal stories come to light as they discover a safe haven from the pressures of the outside world at this unlikely meeting ground of Jews and Arabs, religious and secular, new immigrants and foreign refugees. It is a place where women find their strength and empower one another and where beauty becomes a metaphor for much more.
