Australian fire-fighters on Friday (January 3) continued to battle fires still burning in parts of North Stradbroke Island in Queensland.

Extra teams have arrived on the island to help battle the blaze as strong winds threaten to force it over containment lines.

Generators have been supplied to some homes that have lost power on the island which is 51 kilometres (31 miles) from Brisbane.

The blaze that started on Wednesday (January 1) forced the evacuation of 900 campers.
