Tropical cyclone Bejisa leaves trail of chaos on Reunion island

Fallen trees, tangled power lines, debris and water everywhere.
This was the aftermath on the French island of Reunion after being battered by tropical cyclone Bejisa.
In all, 15 people have so far been seriously injured and around 82,000 homes reportedly suffered power cuts.
Meteorologists say the worst is over but they still expected winds of up to 150 kilometres per hour on Thursday.
One resident told euronews about her narrow escape: “I’ve never seen anything like this. You see it on TV, but it’s not very pretty in reality. I was on the porch, and luckily I came in, because everything could have collapsed on my head.”
The storm swept past the eastern side of the island in the Indian Ocean, as close as 15 kilometres to the coast. Almost a quarter of the island’s 0.8 million inhabitants also had their water cut.
Winds up to 200 kilometres per hour were predicted and waves up to eight metres lashed the shoreline.
