Adolf Philipp war am 5. Mai 1964 aus unbekannten Gründen von Spandau aus in den Grenzstreifen gegangen und wurde von DDR-Grenzsoldaten erschossen. Das vom Bezirksamt Spandau zum Gedenken an Adolf Philipp im Jahr 1964 errichtete Holzkreuz steht an der Stelle, an der Adolf Philipp sein Fahrrad liegen ließ, bevor er in jener Nacht DDR-Gebiet betrat.
Em 5 de Maio de 1964 Adolf Philipp moveu-se por razões desconhecidas, de Spandau para a faixa de fronteira e por consequência foi baleado por guardas de fronteira da Alemanha Oriental. Construído no bairro de Spandau, em memória de Adolf Philipp em 1964, a cruz de madeira encontra-se no local onde Adolf Philipp deixou a noite sua bicicleta antes de entrar no território da RDA.

Built in the borough of Spandau in memory of Adolf Philipp in 1964, a wooden cross stands at the spot where Adolf Philipp let his bike lie before he entered that night GDR territory.
