Bus plunges into ravine in Thailand killing 29

STORY: A bus drove off a bridge and crashed into a ravine in northern Thailand, killing at least 29 people, police said on Friday (December 27).

Authorities said the incident in Phetchabun occurred around 11:30 p.m. on Thursday (December 26) night.

Thai media said the bus was carrying 37 people when it crashed into the ravine that was at least 30 metres (98 feet) deep.

Reuters was unable to confirm if there were any foreigners on the bus.

Police said in an preliminary investigation they suspected the driver fell asleep and lost control of the bus.
