Is a green card permanent?

“A green is called lawful permanent residence, but it may not necessarily be permanent. A green card, for example, may have a validity of 2 years, 10 years, and it must be renewed, depending on how you obtained your permanent residency. What happens is that even though you’re a permanent resident, you may still be deported if you commit certain crimes or if you abandon your residency. So in that sense, it’s not necessarily permanent; it’s a misnomer.”
