"12 Years a Slave" and "American Hustle" top Globe noms

The nominations for the 71st annual Golden Globes have been announced and historical drama "12 Years a Slave" earned seven nods, including ones for actors Chiwetel Ejiofor, Michael Fassbender and Lupita Nyong'o and a nod for the coveted best motion picture drama.

"American Hustle" also earned seven nods. In addition to best picture musical or comedy, the film's actors Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence all earned a nomination.

Heartland ode "Nebraska" won five nominations overall, including best actor in a comedy or musical for veteran actor Bruce Dern.

"Captain Phillips" secured four nominations, including one for lead actor Tom Hanks.

And "Gravity" also took four nods, including one for Sandra Bullock for best actreess in a motion picture drama.

The Golden Globes, organized by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, will be handed out on January 12 in Beverly Hills.
