Man Assaults Girlfriend Over Refusal to Attend Church

Sadly, one woman’s reluctance to attend church caused a major domestic disturbance. A 22-year-old male in Lancaster, Pennsylvania was recently arrested for assaulting his girlfriend when she declined going to church with him.

The suspect, Rusty James Leighty is now facing charges stemming from the incident after the 36-year-old female called police and told them that her partner held a pillow over her face and pulled out a knife. He allegedly threatened to use the weapon on her right after her refusal to attend the religious service.

The disturbing fight occurred on November 24th at approximately 8 in the morning. While the extent of the woman’s injuries was not released, she was taken to Lancaster General Hospital after police arrived at the home on Cottontail Court.

Leighty was taken into police custody and charged with making terroristic threats and simple assault. It was not clear whether or not he had an attorney.
